Churchguy Ministries, Jelani F. Kafela

ABOUT ME

As a descendent of seven generations of (ministers, preachers, men of God) in May 1998, Jelani Kafela answered the call to continue the legacy of dynamic visionary protectors and messengers of the gospel, serving the Lord in De Moines, Iowa for 17 years. Bishop Kafela served as the Coordinator for Ethnic and Multicultural Programs for the Des Moines Area Community College and later recruited by the Clinton Administration through a federal Initiative to become the Disproportionate Minority Confinement Coordinator for the State of Iowa Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning. Bishop Kafela attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings Montana and University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.

After receiving an invitation to return to Pomona, California to lead a revival Bishop Kafela and his wife Lady Kathy began planting the seeds for a new Christian fellowship in Southern California. On July 19, 1998, Imani Temple Christian Fellowship held its first Worship Service in the home of one of the founding members and mother of Bishop Kafela, Muriel Cloyd as an act of faith and obedience with 8 members and a cat in attendance.

Bishop Jelani Faraja Kafela’s name means "mighty hope for the future, for whom one has died".  As the founding Senior Pastor of Imani Temple Christian Fellowship, now Imani Christian Cathedral; he and the members have been united in covenant to engage in programs and activities that support the spiritual objectives of: (1) Worship that touches the heart of God - Psalm 15; (2) Preaching and teaching with integrity the Word of God - Ephesians 4:11; (3) Ministries that are spiritually relevant - Ephesians 4:7-16.

Bishop Kafela, created ChurchGuy Ministries to reach the greater community and it exists to effectively create, produce, and market inspirational products and events.
